Cat Heaven Island

The small Japanese island of Tashirojima has been dubbed ‘Cat Heaven’ by visitors. Home to only one hundred people, cats far outnumber humans in the tiny fishing village.

Cats were originally brought to the island to keep the mice population in check as the rodents were predators of the silkworms that were raised to spin silk to make nets. Over time, the population has aged and the silk farms have vanished – however the cats have remained and their numbers have exploded. 

The remaining locals, mostly in their seventies, pamper the cats and feed them fish. It is believed, in line with Japanese folklore, the cats bring good luck and prosperity. The fishermen also examine the behaviour of the cats to determine weather and fish patterns, which they believe they are able to predict.

It’s so crucial to me to give each individual susceptible animal the opportunity at everyday living they deserve. That is why APA!’s No Eliminate mission is at the coronary heart of every little thing I do, even at dwelling. When my individual pup Echo arrived to APA! through Hurricane Harvey, she and her brother had distemper, a risky virus with symptoms like tremors, lethargy, and fever.

Echo’s brother sadly handed away shortly immediately after arriving at APA!, but
Echo has been by my aspect ever considering that. If Echo had stayed considerably more time in
an additional town without having the assets to give her the spherical-the-clock treatment
and mobility support she required, she may well not have developed up into the

How Much Exercise Does The Adult Dog Need?

Just like humans, dogs require exercise to enjoy happy and healthy lives. Depending on your dog’s breed and age, different exercises will be needed. It’s important to adjust your dog’s exercise routine in accordance with their developmental stage.

Giving your dog the chance to express innate behaviors through various forms of labor, exercise, and play is also crucial.

An adult dog needs a very well-rounded exercise regimen that incorporates proprioception and balance exercises, endurance exercises, flexibility exercises, and skills training, as well as strength training (anaerobic) that targets the hind legs, pelvic limbs, and/or core body.

Once your dog has reached adulthood, they are considered “adults.” They have grown-up behavior and actions. They are between the ages of one and seven.

Without proper exercise, Dogs breeds may put on weight and vent their pent-up energy in ways you don’t like, such as chewing, barking, and digging.
