NEW ORLEANS — Animal rescue teams have been doing the job for days rounding up wounded animals and abandoned pets immediately after Hurricane Ida forced evacuations and left much more than a million customers in the city without electricity.

Deborah MacDonald and Andy Seltz with the Michigan Humane’s Animal Lookup and Rescue group arrived from Detroit to help. The group is specially qualified to conduct rescues throughout disasters.

4 groups were out in the city for various days, responding to calls, collecting whatsoever animals they can and getting them to shelters and having them the treatment they need.
