Overland Park Town Council to vote on repeal of pit bull ban

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Overland Park could before long drop breed limits blocking people from owning pit bulls. 

On Thursday, the Overland Park Public Safety Committee unanimously permitted employees recommendations to update city code about pet licensing, pet tethering and breed restrictive language. 

Pet Licensing

Town staff suggest approving an updated licensing price scale that would include: 

  • A $20 licensing rate for an animal that is not spayed or neutered.
  • A $10 licensing rate for an animal that is spayed, neutered or microchipped.
  • A $5 licensing fee for an animal that is spayed or neutered, and microchipped
